My Family’s Favorite- Animal Kingdom Lodge

If you love animals and love being tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the parks, this is the resort for you! Located on the far west side of the Walt Disney World Resort property, is the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Jambo House and Kidani Village are two amazing resort lodges each offering African inspired theme decor. Disney Imagineers left no stone unturned seeking design inspiration of the Safari’s of Africa. The amazing glass work can be found in the main lobby of the Jambo House. These are true works of art. Kidani Village is known to be for Disney Vacation Club members. However, anyone can stay at either location. Here are some my top 5 Family’s favorite things about this amazing Resort:

5) – Location- Located right on Walt Disney World Property, you are nestled in the reservation of the Animal Kingdom area.  You truly feel as if you are on an African safari. Transportation to/from all theme parks (including Animal Kingdom) is by a complimentary shuttle bus. However, our room location was just a short walk away from the transportation station which was super convenient!

4)- Activities – This is one resort where you can enjoy many activities. There are spa services, a workout facility, Simba’s Club for kids, camp-fires, crafts, foosball, an arcade, movies under the stars, and much more. For an extra experience that is more personal and up-close with the animals, you can also make reservations for Wanyama Safari. Our favorite activity? The Pool! As guest of the resort, we had access to both Jambo House and Kidani Village pools. My boys continuously played on the water slides!

3) Food – Some of the most amazing restaurants are located on property. Sanaa, where you can view the animals while you dine has a great Indian style bread service appetizer.  Also be sure to try the dessert sampler. It is truly amazing! The flavors of Boma offer an amazing variety of African and Indian inspired foods presented buffet style. Rumor has it that Boma is one of the best buffets on property! For a more upscale fine dining experience, there is Jiko.  Here you can join a wine tasting and experience African inspired foods like steaks, fish, or flat breads baked from the wood burning ovens.

2 Accommodations- The rooms are very spacious. We chose a two-bedroom villa category at Kidani Village which was complete with an eat in kitchen.  This can be a great way for some savings if don’t mind preparing a few meals. We chose to prepare an easy breakfast before making our way to the parks. If you opt for the view of the Savanah, you will be able to see many animals like giraffes and zebras right from your balcony! That is not a bad view to have as you  relax with your morning coffee!

1 – The Wildlife – You will find many viewing places in surrounding areas of the resort to spot animals. There is even a wildlife animal spotting brochure placed in your room to guide you on the different species around the savannahs. Want more of the animals? No problem. You can visit the fire pit located outside of Sanaa. An animal specialist is happy to tell you all about the animals and their habitats. Flamingos, zebras, giraffe, or gazelle? You never know who will be there to greet you. This is a highlight to anyone’s vacation for sure!
